Amnesty International urges all its supporters and concerned members of public to take part in a global solidarity action for prisoners of conscience Yan Sidorov and Vladislav (Vlad) Mordasov. Tuesday 5 November 2019 will mark the second anniversary of their detention on the fabricated charges of “preparing to participation in mass riots”. On 4 October 2019, the Rostov Regional Court sentenced them to over six years in prison. Yan and Vlad’s appeal is currently pending.
Ahead of the second anniversary of their detention, Amnesty International urges its supporters to hold demonstrations or individual pickets demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Yan Sidorov and Vlad Mordasov.
“If an action takes place in front of a Russian diplomatic mission abroad, it will definitely be reported to the Foreign Ministry. The Russian authorities should know that many people are concerned about the fate of Yan and Vlad – these young men should not continue to be victims of the abuse of the Russian justice system,” said Inga Kelekhsaeva, Russia Campaigner at Amnesty International.

“Also, we would like the young men to know that they are supported in all corners of our country and abroad. So please send us the photos of your actions to [email protected] or through our Facebook or VKontakte. We will forward your photos to Yan and Vlad via their lawyers and parents,” said Inga Kelekhsaeva.
“Take to the streets with pickets and send us your photos by 1 November. Please also share your photos on social media using #FreeRostovThree.”
